Lake Remodel Making Great Progress

Lift&SlideDoors640B-W Like any remodeling project, we can't say that the Lakebay facility remodel is totally on schedule ... but it is progressing nicely. Most of the construction is complete, painting is in process, hardwood floors are installed but need final sanding and staining, baseboards are being applied and new interior doors are being installed. New sliding doors have been installed in every room on the waterfront side of the house, including a large lift and slide door system in the living room. This has resulted in panoramic views of the waterfront and loads of natural light throughout the house.

New cabinetry has be installed in the kitchen, office/study and new guest bathroom. Now we need the counter tops and appliances to be installed. We can't wait for everyone to see our home facility when the remodel is complete. To follow the progress, visit the photo gallery on our Facebook page.

First Soltura Workshop in Canada posed to start

Carole-border640  Last weekend Carole and Becky Verbeten drove to Regina, Saskatchewan to get ready for the first Soltura workshop to ever be conducted in Canada. As many of you know, there is a sizable contingent of workshop participants in Regina and, from what we hear, many of them are getting in the act...by helping set up or helping with the sound system or cooking during the workshop. Another exciting first is that three former participants will be support facilitators for this workshop...Congratulations to those women who are embarking on a new journey as a facilitator.

There are nine women registered for the Caught in a Twister workshop scheduled to start Wednesday, April 29, 2009. We know the next few days will be very special ones for these ladies. Let's keep them in our thoughts and send loads of positive energy their way.

Tom H. shares his Soltura experience

The following note was received from Tom H. following his first workshop. We enjoyed it so much we thought others would also like to hear about his experience.

Having been in a 12-Step recovery program for 3+ years, I can say that the Soltura journey really unlocked more doors than I thought possible. What a tremendous impact it has made on my recovery. I discovered that the work I had done in the fourth and fifth steps were just the tip of the iceberg. Soltura helped me uncover those undiscovered fears that undermined my recovery. It helped me to see that the decisions I had made throughout my life, were lies. For the first time I finally have an inner peace and acceptance I never thought possible. I thank Soltura for this life-changing experience. Tears of joy!

Love, Tom [Lubbock, Texas]

Thank you, Tom, for your courage and for sharing your experience with our community.

2009 Workshop Schedule Now Available

The 2009 workshop schedule is now posted on the Soltura Foundation website. There will be two workshops conducted in Canada in April, then we return to Washington in May with workshops being held on Vashon Island, located near Seattle and Tacoma. In June we return to our regular facility near Lakebay, Washington. This facility is currently being remodeled necessitating our use of alternate locations. We look forward to being back in our home base for the summer and to seeing former participants return for Part 2 or Part 3 of the Trilogy. For those who have already started their workshop journey, we will be contacting you to help you decide which workshop best fits your needs and schedule.

Please help us spread the word about the 2009 workshops and encourage your friends and family to start their own journey.

Soltura representatives attend NATSAP conference

Carole Rosenberg, Stephen Buckley and Lane Kingsbery represented Soltura Foundation at the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP) annual conference conducted in Austin, TX on January 29-31, 2009. NATSAP serves as a national resource for programs and professionals assisting young people beleaguered by emotional and behavioral difficulties. Member programs include therapeutic schools, residential treatment programs, wilderness programs, outdoor therapeutic programs, young adult programs and home-based residential programs. The conference provided Soltura representatives with an opportunity to renew relationships with other professionals engaged in the therapeutic program industry and spread the word about the wonderful work being done in Soltura workshops. Their networking was focused on educating therapeutic programs about how Soltura workshops may benefit the parents of young people in their care.

Lakebay Remodel in full swing

DRwall500 The remodel of the facility used to house participants during workshops has begun and we have started a photo album on Soltura's Facebook page so you can follow the progress throughout the Spring. The floor plan is being modified to create more open traffic patterns between the kitchen, the adjacent sitting/eating area and the living room. In addition, a new full bathroom is being created adjacent to the first floor guest bedroom, separate from the existing powder room that opens into the central hallway.

We are excited about these improvements and know they will add to our guests' comfort and workshop experiences. Check out the new photo album and stay tuned for more photos...we will update it during each stage of construction.
