I found myself in the first workshop with just six months clean. Fresh out of treatment and in an aftercare program, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I had found the willingness necessary to experience the full range of the workshop through previous step work in a 12-step program.
What I found in Soltura was the perfect supplement to my step work. Through the first workshop [The Knight’s Dilemma], I discovered who I really am. This includes what armor I wear, when I started donning it, and why I wear it. The best way to describe my experience in Soltura is comparing it to a very intense 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th step. The self-searching I experienced in Soltura has carried me through latter steps as well.
Soltura does not take the place of my sponsor, but has allowed me to shine through and become more honest with my sponsor. I can notice when I start to revert to my previous ways of thinking, and I have a group of people who ask “Who are you?” I only have one response to that question – “I am soaring, worthy, and free!”
Thanks to everyone in the Soltura family for paving a way for an addict like me to find my core, true self, and allowing me to break free!
