I want to thank you for the many gifts I received during the women’s workshop today. There is no question that my life has been changed and I am a better person for the experience. Do I use my skills every day? Absolutely not! If I did, not many people would like me very much because I would be such a perfect person. But, I have the tools in my arsenal and I make my life better whenever I choose to use my tools.
Sending my son to treatment was the most traumatic event in my life. I felt like a total failure as a mother, a wife and a person. And, participating in and supporting his recovery was surely one of the most gratifying experiences of my life. But, one of the most important components of his and my recovery was my acceptance of the changes in our relationship and learning our new roles within that relationship ... I feel that my experience has enriched our mother/son relationship and opened new doors of communication and acceptance.
