Carole Rosenberg, Stephen Buckley and Lane Kingsbery represented Soltura Foundation at the National Association of Therapeutic Schools and Programs (NATSAP) annual conference conducted in Austin, TX on January 29-31, 2009. NATSAP serves as a national resource for programs and professionals assisting young people beleaguered by emotional and behavioral difficulties. Member programs include therapeutic schools, residential treatment programs, wilderness programs, outdoor therapeutic programs, young adult programs and home-based residential programs. The conference provided Soltura representatives with an opportunity to renew relationships with other professionals engaged in the therapeutic program industry and spread the word about the wonderful work being done in Soltura workshops. Their networking was focused on educating therapeutic programs about how Soltura workshops may benefit the parents of young people in their care.
Carole Rosenberg, a co-founder and Executive Director of Soltura Foundation, is responsible for workshop development and facilitation. She has been involved in therapeutic programming for the past 25 years and enjoyed reconnecting with several of her former colleagues and students. Stephen Buckley learned first-hand the value these workshops can have for the parents of a struggling teen. He participated in an early version of the workshop trilogy as part of a therapeutic program his son was attending and later became a co-founder of Soltura Foundation along with his wife Alexandra Buckley and Carole Rosenberg. Steve currently serves on the Board of Directors for Soltura Foundation and assists with facilitation of the men's workshop trilogy. Lane Kingsbery is a recent graduate of the Soltura workshop trilogy and is interested in helping other young men on their journey of self-discovery by serving as a support facilitator.
News about Soltura was well received by other professionals attending the conference. We look forward to continued networking and building alliances with therapeutic programs or referring professionals who feel the Soltura workshops would be a beneficial complement to their services.
